Adrammelech & Sharez

The two Assyrian princes who assassinated their father Sennacherib and then fled to Ararat. They appear in the OT only in the two references that refer to the same event. Their names, however, do not appear in the Assyrian records.

CONCORDANCE:

2 Ki 19:37 — One day, while he was worshipping in the temple of his god Nisroch, his sons Adrammelech and Sharezer cut him down with the sword, and they escaped to the land of Ararat. And Esarhaddon his son succeeded him as king.

Isa 37:38 — One day, while he was worshipping in the temple of his god Nisroch, his sons Adrammelech and Sharezer cut him down with the sword, and they escaped to the land of Ararat. And Esarhaddon his son succeeded him as king.
