Aelia Capitolina

The name given to Jerusalem when it was re-founded as a Roman city by Emperor Hadrian in 130. Aelia was Hadrian's family name, and Capitolina, the temple of Jupiter built on the Capitoline Hills in Rome.

The act, together with Hadrian's proscription of circumcision, sparked the Second Jewish Revolt.
