Atheism - Atheist - New Atheists

The belief that God does not exist.

Atheism may be distinguished into two kinds. The philosophical or theoretical atheist who actually does not believe that God exists, and the practical atheist who live as if God does not exist, though they may call themselves Christians, etc., and these are the more plentiful.

The term New Atheists refers to a small group of modern atheists best represented by Richard Dawkins, Sam Harris, ad Christopher Hitchens, who in recent decades have made vigourous, though hardly rigourous, attempts to shout down theism, and esp, the Christian religion.
