Short for A Hebrew and English Lexicon of the Old Testamet by William Gesenius, and edited by Francis Brown, S. R. Driver, and Charles A. Briggs. It was first published in 1906. It is now in the public domain. Since its publication whole rivers of research and study have gone one in the study of Hebrew and Aramaic so that much of BDB is no longer academically adequate; nonetheless it remains useful for the general readers.(Click here to find out more about BDB and other more recent lexica.
