Latin Fathers

The name given to the great theolgians of the Christian Church who wrote in Latin; they include Tertullian (c160-c225), Cyprian (d.258), Ambrose, bishop of Milan (c338-397), Jerome (347-420), Augustine of Hippo (354-430), and Greogory the Great.

Of these, the last four have often been singled out as the 'Great Four.'
