The doctrine of salvation; the investigation of what salvation means and how it is accomplished. The name derives from the Greek word soter, "saviour."
Another way of thinking about soteriology is to say that it deals with the question of how one "gets in" to the communinity of the saved and elect and how does not "stay in" afterwards.
