Table-Talks

The name given to the collection of informal talks given by Martin Luther to his colleagues and students in his home and recorded by others, from 1531-1544. The range of subjects varied widely, and ranged from doctrines to instructions about government, the church and the university. Because these were informal talks Luther was at his most unguarded and many of the views he expressed in these talks seemed—esp. to those of us who read it and, therefore, lack the context of their original circumstances—extremely bias and the the ethic implications rather debatable. The Table Talks also give us some of the most intimate peeks into Luther's early life.
