Like the word 'day' in English, yom can mean a) the period from sun-down to sundown, i.e., a twenty-four-hour period, b) the period from dawn to dust, or c) an indefinite period of time, whose duration is determined only by the author's intention. An expression such as בִּימֵי֙, bime, "in the days of," can, therefore, mean "in the time of," its specific referent being determined by the qualifying expression that follows.
