1. Preaching Relevance
As a preacher and teacher you will have to have a deeper appreciation of the topic than your audience. You cannot, after all, take your audience beyond where you have gone. The resources presented here will enable you to preach a good sermon or Bible class, and you should master as much of it as you can. At the same time you will have to use your discretion and wisdom regarding how much of the material is suitable for your audience. Knowing what to leave out is just as important as what you choose to include in your sermon.
Whatever you do, remember not to show off.
2. Suggestion on Using the Biblical Texts referenced in the Timeline
We anticipate two different occasions when you will be perusing this timeline. You may be reading this timeline for general improvement to your understanding of the Bible, in which case we encourage you to read everything available. It will provide you with a grand view of this traumatic point in the history of Judah and the prophets seldom available elsewhere. Or you may be studying either one of the prophets in order to prepare a sermon/lesson on the book. If you are doing this we suggest you confine your reading of the biblical texts from that prophet alone. This will help you stay focused. Distraction in your sermon preparation will lead to distration in your sermon, and few things kill an audience like a preacher's distraction.
