The words 'create,' 'created,' 'creating,' and 'creation' in NIV translate the various forms of three different Hebrew roots—bara' (54x), qana (4x) and 'asa (2x), and two Greek words—katabole and ktizo.

Exo 34:10 — Then the Lord said: 'I am making a covenant with you. Before all your people I will do wonders never before done in any nation in all the world. The people you live among will see how awesome is the work that I, the Lord, will do for you.'
Num 16:30 — But if the Lord brings about something totally new, and the earth opens its mouth and swallows them, with everything that belongs to them, and they go down alive into the grave, then you will know that these men have treated the Lord with contempt.
Deut 4:32 — Ask now about the former days, long before your time, from the day God created man on the earth; ask from one end of the heavens to the other. Has anything so great as this ever happened, or has anything like it ever been heard of?
Psm 51:12 — Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.
