One of the Twelve Disciples, the inner core of Jesus's followers, and brother of Peter. Andrew was originally a follower of John the Baptizer. Upon hearing John's confession about Jesus, Andrew was one of the two disicples who left John and followed Jesus (Jn 1:29-40). "The first thing Andrew did was to find his brother Simon and tell him, 'We have found the Messiah' (that is, the Christ). And he brought him to Jesus," (v41). Matthew and Mark also affirm that Andrew and Peter were among the first of Jesus's disciples, though they place their calling in a different (but not necessarily conflicting) setting: "As Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon called Peter and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen. "Come, follow me," Jesus said, "and I will make you fishers of men." At once they left their nets and followed him" (Matt 4:18-20). Peter and Andrew's (parental) home in Bethsaida seemed to have become a central meeting place for Jesus's ministry in Galilee, and Andrew and his brother quickly became particularly close to Jesus, as may be evidenced in the account recorded in Jn 12:20-22: "Now there were some Greeks among those who went up to worship at the Feast. They came to Philip, who was from Bethsaida in Galilee, with a request. 'Sir,' they said, 'we would like to see Jesus.' Philip went to tell Andrew; Andrew and Philip in turn told Jesus."

Mk 3:18 — [These are the twelve he appointed: Simon (to whom he gave the name Peter); James son of Zebedee and his brother John (to them he gave the name Boanerges, which means Sons of Thunder);] Andrew, Philip, Bartholomew, Matthew, Thomas, James son of Alphaeus, Thaddaeus, Simon the Zealot [and Judas Iscariot, who betrayed him.]
Lk 6:14 —[When morning came, he called his disciples to him and chose twelve of them, whom he also designated apostles:] Simon (whom he named Peter), his brother Andrew, James, John, Philip, Bartholomew, [Matthew, Thomas, James son of Alphaeus, Simon who was called the Zealot, Judas son of James, and Judas Iscariot, who became a traitor.]
Jn 1:40 & 41 — Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, was one of the two who heard what John had said and who had followed Jesus. The first thing Andrew did was to find his brother Simon and tell him, "We have found the Messiah" (that is, the Christ).
Jn 1:44 — [The next day Jesus decided to leave for Galilee. Finding Philip, he said to him, "Follow me."] Philip, like Andrew and Peter, was from the town of Bethsaida.
Jn 6:8 — [Philip answered him, "Eight months' wages would not buy enough bread for each one to have a bite!"] Another of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, spoke up, ["Here is a boy with five small barley loaves and two small fish, but how far will they go among so many?"]
Jn 12:22 — Philip went to tell Andrew; Andrew and Philip in turn told Jesus.
Acts 1:13 — [Then they returned to Jerusalem from the hill called the Mount of Olives, a Sabbath day's walk from the city.] When they arrived, they went upstairs to the room where they were staying.
