Antinomianism

Generally, antinomianism refers to any form of teaching that human behaviour—ethics and morality—should not be controlled by laws (nomos), or that morality is needed.

Within Christian contexts, the term has been used in two different senses:

1) as denoting Christian licentiousness (the opposite of Christian legalism),

2) as a theological swear-word, always derogatory, to denote those who believe that Christian sanctification is not dependent on obedience to the Mosaic laws.
