Beatitude

Derived from the Latin word for 'blessing,' beatitude can mean 1) "happiness of the highest kind," 2) a title given patriarchs (i.e., senior clerics) of the Orthodox Church, and 3) as a literary form, declarations of what constitude blessedness or the classes of people who are considered blessed, the most famous of which is Jesus's beatitude recorded in Matt 5.

A synonym for beatitude is macarism, from Greek word makar for "happy."
