Benediction

Literally "to speak well" in Latin, a benediction is a declaration or prayer for blessings and good wishes upon the audience or listener. Christian worship services characteristically conclude with the elder or leader pronouncing a benediction over the congregation. One of the most meaningful is the so-called Aaronic Benediction.
