General name given to the collection of ancient manuscripts now housed in the Bibliotheca Bodmeriana ('Bodmerian Library'), in Cologny (near Geneva) and consisting of biblical, Christian and Coptic sources. The name is derived from the founder, Martin Bodmer, a Swiss humanist and collector of rare books who established a foundation so that its resources may be open to the public for research. Of no direct significance to lay-preachers like us, the resources are primary sources for biblical research.
