Catechism - Catechumens

Derived from the Greek word katecheo meaing "teach," "instruct," catechism refers to the instructional material used for the teaching and preparation of new converts for baptism. In the earlier periods of church history, this has usually taken the form of questions and answers. These were later also used for the instruction of young children of believers. Those instructed are called catechumens and those instructing catechist.
