A political ideology hatched by a number of politicians of the Republican Party in the USA, all of whom are closely allied (some would say submissive) to Donald Trump. The ideology is formulated from a hotchpotch of pseudo-Christian concepts, including: a) that the nation of USA was founded on Christian principles and that the Constitution of the USA was divinely inspired, b) that there is to be no separation of church and state, c) that the nation Of USA is elected by God to shape the rest of the world according to His will, and d) America (i.e., USA), led by persons of white descent, is the last hope of Christianity. The most notable spokespersons for this political ideology are Majorie Green and Lauren Boebert, who give to the ideology also a massive dose of conspiratorial folklores.
There is nothing Christian about Christian Nationalism in its content as well as in the behaviour of its chief spokespersons who, as reflected in the arrogant, quarrelsome, and divisive manner of their expousal, indicate that they neither understand the main trust of the biblical teachings about what it means to be a Christian nor that they bear the fruit of the Spirit. Everything we hear about Christian Nationalism to date indicates that it is all about political power, and that in a markedly fascist sort of way. Christian Nationalism is a heresy. It usurps to itself 1) a calling, i.e., to be an elect nation, that God has reserved only to ancient Israelf, 2) the responsibility to be the hope and voice of Christianity that belongs to all Christians, wherever they may live or whatever their colour, and 3) the political power that Jesus says belong to Ceasar and confuses it with what belongs to God (Matt 22:21; Mk 12:17; Lk 20:25).
