De novo

On its own this Latin word simply means "new," "anew." It is used, however, in a specific sense in discussions about the origin of humans to denote the view that Adam and Eve were made through a direct act of God with no direct predecessors and using no biological process. As with all theories there are variations in what is actually involved. "Full de novo" holds that no prior genetic material from any other sources were used. Others view that God may have used DNA from some previous forms of life but gave it a tweak that cannot be explained biologically.
