Ezra

Sorry, this article is being processed.

Probably the most famous scribe in the Old Testament, Ezra was born into a priestly family that could trace itself back to Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron (Ezra 7:5). Though the exact circumstances that led to his family's exile in Babylon is not known, he returned to Jerusalem in "the seventh year of King Artaxerxes," with the explicit blessings and provision of the Persian king (Ezra 7:7). His ministry in Judea may, therefore, be dated to sometime between ### to ###.
