Flood Geology

The teaching adopted by most Christian fundamentalists that the Earth's geological record can be accounted for as a result of the catastrophe of a universal flood—and its recession—at the time of Noah, as recorded in Gen 6-9. It also serves as the de facto position of Young Earth Creationists.

The classical exposition of flood geology remains John C. Whitcomb & Henry Morris's The Genesis Floood (1969). As with most views seeking to make sense of the physical world with a faithful interpretation of Scriptures, "flood geology" encompasses several different perspectives; such as whether whether the geological evidences are to be explained by the Genesis Flood alone or by recourse to additional post-Flood deluges.

Flood geology is, not surprisingly, rejected by almost all professional geologists; in particular, no oil companies in the world would depend on Flood Geology in their extensive geological soundings for oil; they would find nothing if they do.
