Mentioned only once in the Bible, Harod is a valley ajoining Mount Gilboa. At the foot of the mountin is Ein Harod, the spring where Gideon had camped his men and then was told by God that he had too many men to do any good in battle against the Midianites. They were then sent to the spring and asked to drink; the three hundred who lapped at the water like dogs were chosen for battle duty, while the rest were discharged (Judg 6:2-8).
