Korazin - Chorazin

A small city in the vicinity of Capernaum that had the dubious honour, with Bethsaida (and Capernaum), to be upbraided by Jesus for their unbelief; "Woe to you, Korazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! If the miracles that were performed in you had been performed in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes. But I tell you, it will be more bearable for Tyre and Sidon on the day of judgment than for you." (Matt 11:21-22).

Though the city is only mentioned once in the NT, Jesus had probably visited it and possibly preached there several times for him to form such a strong opinion of its temperament. Little is known about the city, though archaeological excavations have been on-going since the early part of the last century. One of the most significant find is its synagogue.
