Miracle

Most commonly understood as an extraordinary manifestation of some supernatural power.

Miracles in a Scientific Age

It is often asserted nowadays that science has made beliefs in miracles untenable. First of all miracles are not something you can either believe or not believe. If you have been the centre of a miracle or have witness one, it does not matter if you do not believe: it happened. You can explain it away anyway you want but it remains a fact. Science has not, and will never be able to, explain away miracles. In fact, the more we understand the workings of science the better we are able to appreciate how God works in miracles. The ancients can only be amazed when miracles occur but they have little at their disposal to appreciate them the way we can.

Science has enabled us to appreciate that there are many alternative ways of accomplishing the same thing.
