Monergism

The belief that the work of regeneration is entirely the work of the Holy Spirit, the human will being incapable of cooperation in the process. The term is derived from two Greek terms, mono, 'single,' 'alone,' and ergon, 'work.' Monergism is a central plank in Reformed theology.
