Nuzi

A town in Mesopotamia excavated between 1925 and 1931, from which numerous documents of the ancient Hurrian civilization that bear testimony to many of the customs described in the patriarchal narratives in Genesis. These include, e.g., the custom of the barren wife providing a concubine to her husband in order to sire a son (ala Sarah and Hagar) as well as the custom of adoption in which the adopted son becomes the heir (ala Eliezer).
