In most modern translations of the Bible, the expression "the Bear, Orion, and the Pleiades" translates the Hebrew 'ash kesil wekima, which refers to three of the most spectacular groups of stars in the night sky. In all their occurences in the Bible—Job 9:9; 38:31 & Amos 5:8—they are referred to as evidence of the God's superlative creative power.
