A city, modern Pozzuoli, on the west coast north of the Bay of Naples, at which Paul landed on his way to Rome; "The next day the south wind came up, and on the following day we reached Puteoli. There we found some brothers who invited us to spend a week with them. And so we came to Rome" (Acts 28:13).
Puteoli was a major port for the wheat trade, of which Egypt was Rome's wheat-basket. The port was linked to Rome, about 270km away, by the famous Appian Way.
