The name—which is Latin for 'holy'—given to a number of hymns and prayers acclaming God's holiness, usually sung at the Communion service in traditional churches. The lyrics are derived from Isa 6 (Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory) and Rev 4 (Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty, who was, and is, and is to come), but finds several expressions.
