Plural of stadios, a Roman measurement of distance, each stadios being equivalent to about 190m (600ft). The term is used 6x in the NT but is left untranslated in the NIV only at Rev 14:20 and 21:16, though other translations convert the figures to their equivalent in miles (NASB, NRS) or furlongs (KJV, NKJ).
