Uriah

( U-ri-yah )

The name—which means "Yahweh is my light"—of at least five individuals in the Old Testament.

1) Uriah the Hittite, husband of Bathsheba with whom David committed adultery (2 Sam 11).

2) A renegade priest in the service of King Ahaz (2 Ki 16).

3) Priest who served as a witness to Isaiah's report of the oracle that Yahweh had given him (Isa 7:25).

4) The son Shemaiah from Keriath Jearim whose prophecy of doom and disaster so disturbed King Jeheoiakim that he (Jer 26).

5) A priest whose son, Meremoth, returned and served with Ezra in the mission to return to Jerusalem and begin the rebuilding of the city after the exile

6) Possibly another priest at the time of Ezra (Neh 8:4)
