This commentary was originally written by Low Chai Hok, at the invitation of Asia Theological Association, for the Asia Bible Commentary series. An abridged version, with some additional notes by Bruce Nicholls, was published by the Association in 2013. With the permission of the Association the original commentary is now being revised and adapted for this electronic format. This permits us to introduce additional tools that is not possible with any paper-version.
Of the original manuscript, B. K. Waltke (professor emeritus at Regent College, Vancouver) says:
God has blessed the Church richly by giving her this superbly crafted commentary on Deuteronomy by Low Chai Hok. Our expositor skillfully uses the craft of rhetorical criticism, along with older exegetical tools, to craft an authentic, powerful interpretation of this important book.
and Bishop Paul Barker (Sydney, Australia):
In this commentary on Deuteronomy, Low Chai Hok handles the text carefully, is alert to various scholarly opinions and arguments, and makes many connections to contemporary Asian situations. Mr Low is sensitive to the original audiences of Moses and does not get lost in critical debate. I am pleased to recommend this readable volume as a worthy contribution to Asian Old Testament study.
