Notes for Gen 3:6-7

1. Wisdom is usually represented by the Hebrew word chokma, while the word here is a synonym sakal.

2. Matt 26:26. In Rev 10:9, John was commanded by the angel to take and eat the little scroll he had been given. This taking and eating belongs, however, in John's vision; it was not an historical act.

3. I use this noun here to avoid the poor habit of most readers of the Bible to immediate associate this act with the doctrine of the Fall, and perhaps of 'original sin' as well. Try, for the moment, not to and focus on the text instead of bringing in all your theological baggage associated with those doctrines.
