Syn, preposition, only dative, meaning 'with,' 'in company with,' 'along with,' 'together with.'
[GEL-297 - Mounce]
This preposition is often used as an element in forming other words containing the idea of 'togetherness,' e.g., synagogen, 'synagogue' (a congregation of the Jews for the purpose of worship and learning), or synathlountes, 'striving together' (Phil 1:27). It is the source of the initial 'syn' in English words with the same idea, e.g., 'synthesis' and 'synoptic,' something 'put together' or 'viewed together.'
