Reprobation

In common parlance, a reprobate is a person who behaves in a 'disapproved' or morally objectionable manner. In Christian theology, however, the term refers to a person who is lost to salvation. The idea is most distinctively defined in the Augustinian-Calvinist-Reformed doctrine of predestination, which asserts that God has predestined some to salvation and others to reprobation (though some theologians would use the verb 'foreordained' rather than 'predestined' for the latter). How God did this, and when did such a decision take place is a matter of debate among various schools of thought.
